Exploring Mallorca and Palma

On my travels I have been lucky enough to see some far flung places but I have never visited the popular tourist destination of the balearic islands (which is a sin as it's only a short flight away).  So putting that right I visited Mallorca at the beginning of June. Staying at the east end of the island with its warm turquoise waters and soft sandy beaches. However I also spent some time in the capital of Mallorca, Palma. It is here that inspired me the most and currently creating a small collection of paintings from some sketches, celebrating this wonderful island.

Nestled in the sparkling Mediterranean Sea, the captivating island of Mallorca beckons travelers with its rich history, stunning landscapes, and vibrant culture. Surrounded by crystal-clear turquoise waters and framed by dramatic cliffs and golden sandy beaches, Mallorca presents a postcard-perfect paradise. As you set foot on this Balearic gem, you are greeted by an interesting blend of ancient allure and modern flair, embodied by the island's capital city, Palma.

Palma, with its labyrinthine streets and centuries-old buildings, transports visitors back in time, offering a glimpse into Mallorca's captivating history. Explore the narrow lanes of the Casco Antiguo, where every step reveals hidden treasures and architectural marvels. Wonder at the intricate Gothic spires of La Seu Cathedral, a symbol of Palma's grandeur and one of the most breathtaking cathedrals in Europe. As the sunlight filters through its stained glass windows, casting a kaleidoscope of colors on the ancient stone walls, a sense of reverence washes over you.

But Palma is not merely a city frozen in time; it pulses with a vibrant energy that reflects its modern spirit. Stroll along the elegant boulevards, lined with trendy shops and stylish boutiques, where fashion-forward locals and curious visitors converge. The Paseo Marítimo, Palma's lively waterfront promenade, offers a delightful blend of scenic beauty and bustling activity. Here, you can indulge in seafood dishes at waterfront restaurants or sip a refreshing cocktail while admiring the bobbing yachts in the harbor.

Palma embraces a thriving arts scene. Art enthusiasts can explore the contemporary masterpieces at the Es Baluard Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, where local and international artists showcase their talent.
